What the trade says...
The new Auris is Toyota's Focus-sized hatchback and it replaced the long running Corolla. It's available in three and five-doors with a choice of two petrol and three diesel engines. It's exceptionally well built, comfortable, easy to drive and comes with a good level of equipment. It does, however, ultimately lack an X-factor that would make it stand out ahead of the Vauxhall Astra or Ford Focus.
There is a marginally sporty version in the shape of the SR180 which has a diesel engine but it's still far from exciting. Ultimately, the Auris is a competent car in every area - a car that you buy with your head, not with your heart. In 2010 Toyota revised the Auris, enhancing its build quality and giving it more sporting appeal. It simiplified the range to two petrols and one diesel, plus a range topping hybrid version which was introduced in the second half of the year.
